What Is a Level 3 Qualification?
Level 3 sits alongside A levels on the UK qualifications framework. In beauty and aesthetics it is the foundation level: it gives you the knowledge of skin, anatomy, hygiene and consultation that every advanced treatment builds on.
It is also the usual entry requirement for Level 4 and Level 5 courses and for needle-based training. As an approved Focus Awards centre (RFC8853), our Level 3 qualification is regulated, not just a certificate of attendance.
Who Level 3 is for
Complete beginners, career changers and anyone who wants a recognised foundation before moving into aesthetics. You do not need a beauty or medical background to start at Level 3.
What you will learn
The principles of professional aesthetic practice: skin structure and function, anatomy and physiology, client consultation and contraindications, and health, safety and infection control, combined with practical training at our academy.
Entry requirements
No previous qualifications or experience are needed for our Level 3 Certificate in Aesthetic Therapies. Speak to the team if you would like to check that it is the right starting point for you.
Academy or college?
At college, reaching Level 3 typically takes one to two years, often with GCSE entry requirements and a September start. Academy training is faster, more practical and built around the treatments clients actually book.

What is a Level 3 qualification in aesthetics?
A Level 3 qualification is a regulated foundation qualification, at the same level as A levels, covering the theory and practice every aesthetic practitioner needs before moving on to advanced treatments.
Do I need any experience to start?
No. Our Level 3 Certificate in Aesthetic Therapies is designed for people starting out, including those with no beauty or medical background.
Is Level 3 enough to do needle treatments?
A Level 3 beauty qualification meets our entry requirement for needle-based courses such as microneedling, anti-wrinkle, dermal filler and skin boosters. You will still need to complete training in each treatment before offering it.
Should I choose Level 3 or Fast Track Aesthetics?
Fast Track Aesthetics is open to beginners and gives you practical training across a wide range of treatments quickly. The Level 3 Certificate gives you a regulated foundation qualification and a clear route to Level 4 and Level 5. Our course quiz can help you decide.
Can non-medics do a Level 3 aesthetics course?
